CONTEST NOW CLOSED.

Congratulations to our winner!

My most embarrassing infertility moment was when I got a peak reading on my monitor and a positive OPK. My husband decided to work a overtime shift. No problem, right? Wrong, he works 24 hour shifts. He had to explain to someone why he needed to come home for 3 hours to get coverage. He drove home, we had a quickie and he drove back to work. The entire fire department knew he came home for a quickie and that I was ovulating. Now, I get asked if I am "peaking" or not. UGH!

  10. My name is Brandee and my most embarrassing infertile moment was admitting to not only my husband, but also his parents and sister (along with her spouse and 2 gorgeous children) that I had a dream after each of her children were born that I ran away with the kids and raised them as my own. Needless to say, I was not left alone with them for a while after that.

  11. My most embarrassing fertile moment happened on the phone. I was discussing my cervical mucus with my bff when her cell phone dropped our call. The phone rang right away so I picked it up without checking caller ID and continued right on describing my CM. It was the library calling to tell me a book I put on hold was in. I apologized profusely but I still blush horribly when I run into that librarian.

  12. My most embarrassing infertile moment was my very first Transvaginal Ultrasound. My doctor was sick so I had my very first guy doctor. Not only was I slightly weirded out by a dude, but he had a super hot intern with him. It took twice as long as they tried their hand at locating eggs...and I was twice as mortified...

  14. My most embarrassing infertile moment was sitting on the table in radiology right before the HSG in that tiny hospital gown. I go to a University teaching hospital and the young intern was so awkward about the whole thing. He kept staring at me and asking if I had any questions, wanted to hold his hand, etc. I just wanted to get it done and get the heck out of there!

  17. My most embarrasing moment just happened. I went to a local church which I read was doing a special blessing for couples expecting, trying to conceive or adopting. At one point in the mass the priest calls all couples to the front for a special blessing. About 15 couples went up with us..and I took one look around and EVERY other couple was very very pregnant. Well- I broke out into the UGLY CRY! Right up on the altar! Snot goin everywhere...I could not contain myself. As if that wasn't bad enough, I have had 2 coworkers come up to me today and told me thay saw me at mass (had no idea they went there) and anyway, they wanted to congratulat me! And cue the ugly cry all over again!!! Mortified!!

  20. My most embarrassing infertile moment was... (Oh dear, thank Gosh the internet provides at least a BIT of anonymity)... Long story short, my husband and I had to meet on our lunch break at the lab for our(/his) semen analysis. They didn't have a room available, and we didn't have time to go anywhere, so I had to give him a "hand" collecting the sample in the car. No one might of known when the specimen was collected, except the nurse specifically asked, "How long ago was the sample obtained?" And I had to blushingly say, "About 2 minutes ago." Clearly she knew what we had been up to, but we really had no choice! I swear, Grandma! ;)

  21. The name's T-Mac. My most embarrassing infertile moment was explaining to my mom that I didn't get pregnant this month because I was in the ER with a kidney stone the night I ovulated. I told her that I told my husband to roofie me just to get the job done but he was too considerate. I quickly realized I'd said too much!

  23. Name's Randi. My most embarrassing infertile moment probably was screaming during the hysteroscopy, my first IVF round. It hurt much more than I expected and I kicked out at the doctor a little and screamed very loud. Probably terrifying to the women in the waiting room.. :)

  25. Hi my name is Marta (in case it shows up as "Anonymous.") I suffer from facial hair growth (which my doctors are not sure whether it was from PCOS or hyperprolactinemia). Last year, when we went for our first fertility appointment, the intern remarked, "I see you have hair growth. Do you shave it, to get rid of it?"
This was the perfect--and based in truth!--comeback that I should have said to her. "No. My husband used to be a barber in [his home country.] He gives ME a shave. Isn't it romantic? It's how we bond."
Or, better yet? "My husband used to be a barber. He gives ME a shave. It's better than foreplay."

  27. My most embarrassing infertile moment was...I hadn't been "home" in awhile so I decided to use 4 days of spring break (I work in a public school) to visit my family, my very large family. Knowing that I had been working through fertility treatments, they all expected I was announcing that I was having triplets and were obviously disappointed. Longest. 4. Days. Ever.

My most embarassing infertile moment was when I was calling to check on my hubby's SA results and I called the wrong number. So unfortunately they said hello and I just responded with Yeah Hi, I was wondering how my husbands semen turned out. Epic Fail!

My name is Sassy and my most embarrassing infertile moment occurred when I wasn't even there. My husband's family was having a get together and we skipped it. While there hubby's cousin informed everyone that we could have a baby if we wanted because IVF only costs $300. My sisters-in-law all argued but that that info was false but my husbands parents and the rest of the family believe her and still insist that she is right and that we should just suck it up and pay the $300. Which is funny because the cousin herself is infertile too. So I don't have kids because $300 is too much to pay.

  35. My most embarrassing moment occurred a few weeks ago. My husband and I are moving and we went to visit the area. While there, we decided to have dinner at a very nice restaurant. We had just ordered when my husband dropped a HUGE bomb: his 21yo brother and his horrible wife were 14 weeks pregnant! His sister-in-law has been absolutely nasty to me, going so far as to post on my Facebook and tell everyone that I'm infertile because God is punishing me for cheating on my husband! (It's actually my husband that's infertile) Anyway, I tried to keep it together, but couldn't. I burst into tears and started sobbing as the young waiter brought us our drinks. My husband had a beer and I had Diet Coke. I said to the waiter, with snot rolling down my face, "Since I can't get pregnant anyway, bring me a beer, too." I proceeded to get completely trashed, balling my eyes out, while my husband ate in silence and the people with a baby across the aisle stared at me. The poor waiter was completely uncomfortable! I was too intoxicated to care at the time, but I was completely mortified the next morning, not to mention hungover! Needless to say we won't be going back to that restaurant any time soon!

  36. My most embarrassing infertility moment would be when my mother in law came to my home, and walked in the door with out ringing the bell... No we weren't... but we were asleep the entire house husband me, pets. I then realized that my fertility stim shots were in the fridge in the kitchen. My family didn't have a clue that we were doing ANY TREATMENTS. My mother in law often brings left over food for my husband(what is she saying can I not cook?) So I ran into the kitchen.. in NO PANTS, NO BRA... JUST MY HUSBANDS SHIRT UNDERWEAR (I think) AND KNEE HIGH SOCKS.. I made it to the kitchen and hid the Stim shots as I was sliding all over the just cleaned wood floors!

  37. My name is Laura and my most embarrassing infertility moment was when we had to get my hubby's SA done. We couldn't do it the way the hospital wanted it done so we did our thing at home and I made my hubby hold the container as I threw on my clothes and raced out to the car, and drove 30 minutes to the hospital with the sample between my legs. When I flew into the lab, I rushed to the front of the line to announce that it was time sensitive.

The lab guy pulls it out of the bag and says in front of everyone, thanks for keeping the semen warm! (With a warm fuzzy smile).

  40. (yes, i had to do this again, b/c i didn't spell check!) My name is Adriane and my most embarrassing infertile moment was "holding up the room" for too long the first time we went in to do an IUI. We took for.ever. in the room to collect the specimen, because we were both so distracted (uncomfortable) and had country music/commercials blaring. When we came out after the whole procedure and went to schedule our IUI for the next day, the receptionist made it clear that we had taken too long in their little room. oops!

  41. Arent almost all infertile moments embarrassing? Mine was when i was discussing with my boss regarding my nausea and sore boobs, while she insisted she knew I had to be preggo, and she ran and got a test, and made me take it. Stood outside the door. Needless to say I knew I wasnt, and i couldnt convince her other wise. To walk out and hand her a fresh peed on stick for her to see for herself. Nothing like handing your boss your peestick!

  45. My name is Justin and my most embarassing infertile moment was around family "support". My mother harassed my wife and I to "just adopt" and give up on the genetic link to our children, because adoption is "the moral thing to do." When we finally stood up to her and told her to cease trying to force her solution to our infertility, she called every friend I had, from kindergarden and up until now, and explained to them in detail how they should convince me to adopt. It was soooo embarassing to have our personal problems be put in the open like that, and having to apologize to all our acquaintainces that did not necessarily wish to be dragged into that particular discussion.
