  1. We've been trying for 3 years and my cousin conceived on her wedding night. AND she is only 20. That's a reason to laugh, right?

  4. My reason to laugh: After two years TTC, my husband and I just had a conversation about how much money and effort we spent during the first five years of our relationship trying to prevent a pregnancy.

Oh, if we'd only known the journey ahead.

  5. I want to win because My DH cousin got pregnant (even though we've been the ones trying for 4 years) and then she decorated her sons nursery with tractors and camo and general redneck decor. In My Jealous rage I said "What's next!? A mobile made out of beer cans!?!?"

  6. My reason to laugh (albeit ironically): We have been trying for 11 years to have a baby and not only does my sister in law get pregnant, but I had a friend get pregnant just months after giving birth to her 2nd! It seriously made me so mad!

  7. Reason to laugh? We at least I can get drunk while on my period that started a week late. After getting my hopes up, I need it.....

  9. My reason to laugh...after 3+ years of trying, two miscarriages, more meds than i can keep track of and a surgery to remove a polyp likely caused by all those meds, i've almost begun to believe all they hype that it'll happen when it's time! :)

  14. After 7 years of TTC, 4 years serving alongside my husband overseas with the military, and because all the young kids I used to babysit as babies now have babies of their own... I have to laugh, otherwise I'll end up crying and won't be able to stop.

    ReplyDelete
  15. My reason to laugh? The fact that I can drink to my heart's content for a week every month while all my friends (except the other infertile) are busy incubating and complaining about their cravings and stretch marks

We've been trying NOT to get pregnant for 10 years of the 12 we've been together. Our families have given up on us - they refer to our pets as the Granddogs. Now that we've decided to try to have children...it looks like they were right all along!

    1. Aimee,
It sounds like you and your hubbie could be me and my hubbie's doubles. We have been together 15 years (started dating as young teens) and were worried about getting pregnant. Now that we are 30, we are worried that we let our fertile years pass us by while trying to take care of everyone else's kids (we are teachers). Our families also recer to our dogs as the Granddogs.

After 5 1/2 years of trying, with one miscarriage, I've seen 10-12 couples that were married at the same time as us conceive the 1st, 2nd, and most are now on 3. In particular, one of my closest friends I met when she was pregnant with her first after "struggling with infertility for 10 mo", she was 5 wks along. The first weekend away from their little girl, they left her with us and conceived their second, a boy. They are now expecting the arrival of number three within a month or so....
I was the first of cousins and siblings on both sides of my family married. About a year ago 3 cousins were married, and 6 months ago my brother in-law was married. One cousin, when pressured about when they'll get pregnant pushes the attention off on me: "Us? Talk to her...". The other two cousins; one has a 6 month old, the other is almost due. A week ago we found out that my brother-in-laws wife (6 months married, 1 month off BC) is pregnant (and she has an extreme case of endometriosis!) Two of college roommates are married, both have PCOS. One went off of BC and conceived TWINS within a month; the other was married a year ago, in her second trimester....
My reason to laugh: irony. And the fact that everyone has officially left me in the dust wondering, when will it be my turn?

    1. A "friend" of mine told me they were having trouble conceiving number 2. I asked well how long has it been? She said 2 months (or so). I kind of snapped and told her not to come complaining to me until it had been over 10 years. I felt bad but was getting so tired of that and her "advice." Did she really think in 10+ years we hadn't tried pretty much everything! LOL

  19. My reason to laugh: While in a communal dressing room. A woman asked how I could leave my young baby at home. I have a big flabby belly with purple stretch marks from trying to get pregnant. She assumed it was because I just had a kid because she had a three month old (and an almost flat stomach, b****).

  22. TTC with my DH for over 3 1/2 years. We laugh at our infertility because of how funny life in the bedroom has gotten! Putting pillows under my bum immediately after. Legs up on the wall. Have even tried hanging upside down off the bed!! Trying new positions because I have a tilted uterus. If we didn't laugh we'd lose our minds from the strain infertility and PCOS brings! :)

  23. After TTC for 2 years, we joke about the effort previously to avoid pregancy - what was all the fuss about when it doesn't happen when you're ready. :-)

  24. We've been TTC for 4 years now, if we don't laugh, we will mostly cry and there's no guarantee that we'll ever stop, so it's better just to keep moving forward and laugh along the way!

  32. My reason to laugh: been ttc for almost 6 yrs and see a druggie get pregnant one after another and horribly neglect her children.I've gotten to know these kids and it makes me smile and die a little inside at the same time when they tell me they wish I could be their mom because I act like a mommy should. I just smile and tell them that I am thankful for what I have and when its my time I will be a mom and until I am I will share my love with them and there is always room in my heart even after I have my own

  34. My reason to laugh.... We have been trying to have a baby for 5 years, after 9 miscarriages I got pregnant for the 10th time, that pregnancy ended in an ectopic and I lost my left tube and ovary. BUT-2 months after my emergency surgery we were blessed to become foster parents to 3 siblings who keep our minds off ttc (and who have come from a home of abuse and neglect), and bless us with their laughter and smiles everyday. Out of bad has come some good, we are able to give them everything we possibly can while we await the day we are blessed with a child of our own. As we wait we will continue to always treat our foster kids as our own, because they have given us a reason to laugh again.

My reason for laughing? I knew before the age of 16 that I had pcos. My husband loves me as is. Thousands of dollars in debt to the medical profession...still empty arms. I can crack infertile jokes that I think are hilarious, but noone else does. Apparently I am to treat my fertile shortcomings more seriously. Heck no!
So...this could help us (since pee stick OPKs don't work) and maybe if we succeed...then people could laugh at my jokes as I am holding my new baby!

  36. I laugh because after being passed and lapped a couple times and we have only been TTC for 3 years. No one asks us any more "When you are going to have kids?" For fear I will burst out in tears...I laugh because I am happy for them and can truely be happy for them.

After TTC for 3 years you try to laugh at all the people posting about their "accidental pregnancies" and wonder what the hell you've done wrong to keep you from getting the one thing you want most....and your friend asking you to adopt her unborn child because she can't care for anohter one...sigh...

  75. My reason to laugh: I am "Infertile Anesthesiologist" with secondary infertility. Day job? Anesthesia for essures and ablations. Women who can't wait to plug their tubes and scar their uteruses to not have babies or periods. Night job? I'm on call for OB at my nearby hospital, providing epidurals and spinals for C-sections. Talk about infertile hell. I'm surrounded by women who have gotten pregnant.

My period started yesterday. After my second IUI, femara and injections, ovarian hyperstimulation (pause for 2 months), 5 months failed clomid, and one ectopic. I didn't even get the chance for a BFN. AF 3 days early...

After two boxes of tissues, my husband holding me all day, I found this website and found a reason to laugh again. And cry at the same time.

  78. We have been trying for almost 3 years now but we can no longer afford to get any treatments as we do not have thousands to spend every month, in that time my best friend got pregnant " accidentally" on birth control, as did my little sister. And just a few weekends ago I went to a "Girls night" which naturally is supposed to mean wine, munchies, and being dorks. I walk in and five minutes later my friend pulls me aside and says, Erin, I have to tell you something... I'm pregnant, now mind you this is her 2nd child out of marriage and on state assistance. Then 3 hours later another friend there tells me she is pregnant, and in her 2nd trimester already, and once again with her second child without being married and on state assistance... 2 in one night... and one of them insisted on drinking 3 glasses of champagne, and both of them smoke... and next weekend I have to go wedding dress shopping with both of those preggos... they said it is supposed to be a mini vacation... I lol cause yeah maybe for them it will be!!

  79. Well my name is LisaJo Green I am 36 yrs old and I have been preggo once by IVF and lost early. My DH and I have been married 12 yrs and no children. we have raised many cats and dogs as children and they are no gone. I have 4 sisters who have children and about 6 months ago found out my younger sister is expecting twins after her youngest is 8 years old, wow now that's a slap in the face. No one ever thought she would end up preggo again. I always laugh at holiays when we get together and hope that one day when I have children they will have someone to play with whose their age, but then I look at them and I see babysitters (they will all be old enough, if and when it happens) I had at christmas said to my mom, "It seems as though everyone has given up on Us having children." My mom just says, "honey, you don't talk about it anymore." Do they not know it's hard to talk about something that you WANT and DESIRE so bad... I cry about this but on the other spectrum I am also laughing cause it hurts soo bad. I & my DH have been talking your products now for 3 months and hopefully I am hjoping and praying by the "GRACE" of God that this will be our month.

As others say... "Baby dust to Us All"

    1. I know the feeling. I always say if there was a switch where I could shut off the desire to have kids I probably would have by now. I am just not ready to give up. We have been married 13 years. We have never actually had a positive pregnancy test. I did IVF in 2008 (13 eggs removed and fertilized, 8 transferred in 1 fresh two frozen cycles 2,3,3). My younger sister has had her two and is done having kids before I even start. My sister in law is pregnant with her 2nd. We are military so there is ALWAYS MANY pregnant women around (not sure why they seem far more fertile, lol) so I am always forced to deal with my feelings. Just a rough situation however you look at it. Praying for you and for us all!

I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 16 and its been, oh, 5 years since I've ovulated. My husband has azoospermia as a result of a birth defect. Literally everyone of my friends has had 2 or more children since I've been married, four years ago. My "best" friend is currently pregnant. She's also the one who told me that we should be pregnant together so we can complain about being pregnant. But I know that I was meant to be with my husband when we learned that I have too high testosterone and my husband has low testosterone. Talk about a match made in Heaven :)

We are moving onto IVF, and my reason to laugh is all the people out there that try and make me feel better and tell me to "relax, it will happen when it's supposed to happen" yeah well tell that to the teenager that get's pregnant at a drop of a hat. Like that was supposed to happen....... Right? HAHA

  83. Hi! My name is Emily.
My husband is in the Army. We have been married for 3 years and have been TTC since the beginning. We were about to start fertility testing when he deployed to Afghanistan for a year. He is now finally home long enough to start the process. My reason to laugh is that after being apart for two out of the three Valentine's days that we have been together, the only day my husband could schedule his SA was on February 14th. How romantic. Sometimes you just have to laugh.

  84. February 22 marks the 7 year mark of TTC; I laugh because for 7 years we've managed to try just about ever position we've heard will work, we've tried every old wives tale anyone has told us and our only response to the question "When are you going to have another baby" is "God gave a virgin a baby, when he's ready we'll be next. Until then we'll continue to make sure neither of us are virgins".

Lets face it, with the last name (Jinx) everything in life is a joke. :)

  85. I laugh because there are so many more options for helping infertility then what the doctors tell you.

  86. I laugh that everyone thinks me working with children will show me just how troublesome kids are and that I'll be greatful that I don't have any of my own. Childcare is NOT birth control! But then again... I'm still not pregnant so maybe it is... hmmm... lol

  87. Hi my friends call me Nicky, been ttc for 5 years now. Every year that goes by is just so frustrating! I've been on fertilaid for 4 months now but still nothing. I want to win cause I want my husband to try fertilaid for men. I think I have been so selfish that all this time I've been ordering for me only. I've also tried the tea, I'm not a tea drinker but fertilaid tea is actually good. Well I will laugh at infertility and PCOS when I'm finally pregnant!

  88. Hi my name is Nancy and my reason to laugh at infertility is that Aunt Flo aka my period has decided to laugh at me and has gone from being semi regular last year to less and less regular to finally not showing up and no I am not pregnant. So laugh on Aunt Flo but it will be who will have the last laugh when we finally end up pregnant:)

  89. One of the reasons I laugh at infertility is my post-it-notes on all the toilets in our house reminding me I can't pee until X-time before I take an ovulation prediction test.

  90. I laugh at infertility because for the first time in my life, I have a job that I LOVE (work from home), and my insurance SUCKS. When I had a state govt job, they would at least cover one round of IVF, this job only covers the infertility diagnosis!! *eyeroll*

  91. I have been trying for the last 5 years. All while workin in a dentist office on a floor where there are 2 ob/gym offices and an ultrasound clinic. I can't ride the elevator or go to the bathroom without a pregnant woman being there. For some reason patients think our office is a pregnancy center and keep coming in like they have an appointment!

Because my sister had unexplained infertility....and finally conceived #2 after trying 7 yrs for the first one and another 7 for the 2nd. My sister-in-law hasn't caught either in 8 yrs of marriage and we haven't caught in 5 yrs of marriage (or 7 yrs of dating prior to marriage). I laugh because God has a plan, but I don't get it. A joke w/o a punchline. Maybe if I understood my insides better, then I would understand the joke.

My reason to laugh at infertility? Another women told me on Friday that maybe it will happen if I just relax...

I get congratulated for our impending miracle by random people....which there is no impending miracle. I'd like to get knocked up so my gut can stick out naturally and I can wear the comfy preggy pants. Hee hee!
